Why an Adult Coloring Party is the Girls Night You Never Knew You Needed

How to host a colorful evening with friends!

There’s nothing more relaxing than having the chance to unplug and color with a nice glass of wine and some snacks. And I think it would be super fun to do with a group of my best girlfriends! When we’re able to safely entertain again, I think I’m going to host a girls night coloring party! I love inviting people over (even though it feels like EONS since we’ve had anyone other than family come over). Besides - it’s the PERFECT excuse to clean my house!

I’m going to ask everyone to bring their favorite coloring books, but I’ll also have my collection available in case someone’s not feeling what they brought. I’ve got coloring books for just about every style and mood. Coloring books about cats, flowers, places to visit, a coloring cookbook… you name it and I’ve probably got it! Notice I didn’t say “I’ve got way too many coloring books”... Yeah, that’s not a thing! You can NEVER have way too many coloring books - in MY opinion anyway. Besides - a stack of coloring books in the center of the table would be a fun addition to the centerpiece.

Even a few small details like party favors and colorful fruity cocktails will help make the evening super special without taking too much time or costing a ton of money.

Step 1

Invite your guests. Either send out a personal email invite or download and customize the fun printable invite I’ve created for you! Send it for your guests to color, or color it yourself before sending! Have fun with it!

Make sure you try and pick a time when you know your friends can come and go ahead and ask them to bring their favorite books and coloring tools (even though you’ll have enough for everyone to “sample”).

Step 2

Gather your art supplies and some extra coloring books. I love colored pencils, but I know some prefer crayons, markers or fine tip pens. I’ll put them all out - just in case.

Step 3

I love party favors… and they DON’T have to be elaborate. Little cellophane bags with some colorful rainbow colored candy in them. Or why not do color-themed bags: a clear baggie with all red stuff in it (or pink or yellow, etc.)? Or how about mini bottles of liquor or champagne with a cute personalized gift tag attached?

mini bottle of champagne + handful of colorful candy = fun adult party favor!

Step 4

Create an inviting space for coloring by rolling out some white butcher paper on the table. This will give the perfect surface to try out your colors before using them in your book. I keep old pickle and jelly jars, so I’ll probably display my art supplies in these. And what coloring party would be complete without a bright colorful flower arrangement in the center of the table?

Step 5

Don’t forget about the food! I suggest light finger food for this party - nothing too sloppy. You don’t want to drip anything on your coloring pages. Since we eat with our eyes first, there are tons of colorful food ideas on Pinterest. Provide a fun colorful cocktail for your friends to sip on or you can ask everyone to bring a bottle of their favorite vino. I don’t know about you, but fun drinks always make me feel extra creative!

Here are some fun cocktails I’ve been wanting to try. OR you can simply do a search for “colorful cocktails” on Pinterest… there are TONS of options

A sunset-colored mango punch

A fun green mermaid cocktail

A pink watermelon margarita

Step 6

Now it’s time to get down to business! I suggest tons of laughter and some fun music. Just enjoy your time together while you color, and then share your artwork with your friends so you can admire each other’s work!

Kids shouldn’t have all the fun! AMIRIGHT?
