The top 3 reasons adults should own a coloring book and colored pencils

This week I’m going to keep it short and sweet. This isn’t rocket science (although coloring rocket ships does sound pretty cool)... Coloring is an activity that everyone (adults especially) should participate in. Yes, EVERYONE! What to know why? Ok, I’ll give you 3 reasons why you should own a coloring book and colored pencils.

1.

Coloring makes you happy. It's a proven fact  - adding colors to paper brightens your mood!  Technically, coloring allows your brain time to rest... and that lasts long after you're actually done coloring. Giving your brain rest reduces stress. You can either schedule time in your day to color, or keep your coloring book(s) and colored pencils handy for when you need a few minutes of stress-relief! Coloring is a form of self-care and I’m making an effort to do more things that make me happy in 2021. You BEST BELIEVE I’m going to be doing plenty of coloring this year. YAY!

2.

Coloring actually trains those "focus nerves". No, really - coloring inside the lines requires focus, but it isn't necessarily a stressful activity, so it allows you to completely lose yourself and forget your worries/stresses. Coloring essentially allows you to truly live in the moment and put everything else aside while you're engaged in it.

3.

Coloring is a great form of self-expression. It lets you be you! Want to color kitties and rainbows? Feel like coloring in a swear word coloring book? Want to use your favorite colors no matter WHAT it is you're coloring (pink Christmas trees or mint green fire trucks or yellow unicorns)? Ok, ok, and ok! Your coloring book is YOUR COLORING BOOK!

There are SO.MANY.MORE reasons, but these are the 3 most convincing. BONUS REASON: coloring is just FUN!
